One of our historic woods we call "Plow Beam Wood". After the end of the Civil War hundreds of these beams were stored first in a flour mill and later in a barn near historic Jonesborough, TN, from which they were salvaged in 2006. It is reclaimed oak from plows ca. 1865. We still have plenty of used Jack Daniel's whiskey barrell wood, Vanderbilt University wood (including the most famous tree which was there before the University and remains there today!), and some Union Station Train Shed wood. Trees from your own property I call "sentimental wood" and we have captured many family memories from these trees. Contact us for other historic woods we may just be getting in. Matranga Wood Designs is the 911 for wonderful, historic trees that go down.
Any item out of a historic wood comes with a card telling the story.
